Casusa Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Hi. Can someone help me with a 3D Polyline. The objective is doing (as in the photo, like the others in blue) a cement bar painted in blue with 2 cm that circles the window. The problem is that the 3D polyline (wich i've already did it) is curve. The other flats ones i did it with 2 polys, then region, then subtract, anda finely extrude. I've attached one phot. Dadgad Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 (edited) A good way to do this is to use the INTERSECT or INTERFERE command. Copy the wall you have modeled, and extrude one of the blue surrounds you have modeled and extrude it so that it has a greater depth both inside and out, than the wall (taking into account the radius of the wall). Then using the INTERSECT command you can generate the radiused surround. Having chosen to do it using SUBTRACT in my first attachment, it was the wrong way to go, lots of wasted energy. The second attachment uses the INTERSECT command to generate the 3D Solid. Whoops, just noticed that you are on Autocad 2005, which I have never used, not sure if those commands existed yet, but I'm guessing that the technique will bear similarities to that shown. JD Mather Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Can you attach dwg file here? I'm thinking imprint and thicken or extrude surface and thicken or xedges loft.... or.... Quote
