Two Problems (Switching windows & Copying Layouts)

Hey Guys,

I have two problems

Problem 1

Most of the time when I am switching in between drawings that are open I have to "regen" the drawing that I switch to as nothing shows up when I switch.

Problem 2

Problem is copying layouts over. When I go to designcenter and then open drawings I try and drag a layout into a different drawing. Somtimes it works but usually I drag it onto the drawing and the new layout doesn't appear. I had this problem ever since I switched from 2010 to 2011 and now 2012.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Did you download and install Update 1 for AutoCAD 2012?

What are your system specs?

Did you try the REPAIR option?

REGENAUTO > On

.... may solve both issues.

OK, thanks for the replies. I tried the regenauto but that didn't seem to work. I downloaded service pack 1 which seems to have fixed the issue when I switch between drawings. Still am having the copying layout issue.

Detail the exact procedure you use in 2012 to copy the layout. When it fails hit the F2 key and copy the text screen from the point where you started the procedure to the point where it fails or you stopped. Paste that in your next reply.

Here it is but there really is nothing to it

Command: _adcenter

Command:

All I do is go to design center. Click on the layout in an open drawing and drag it in. Use to always work.

You got it to work in 2010 but not in 2011 or 2012 so we have to ask ourselves "what changed?" Was it AutoDesk that changed something or is it your technique?

Yeah, I think it was 2010 when it still worked. Now it will very rarely work which is the wierd part because the odd time it works. Yeah I have done it the same way I have always done it.

I wonder if maybe it doesn't like something in my layout like maybe a block or something in my titleblock. Because I just tried a test layout with nothing on it besides a rectangle and that worked fine.

Then that rules out your technique. Perhaps you are onto something. Good work.
