Hi How do I draw a scalene triangle when I only know the lengths of the 3 sides thank you bob smith

This will do it, use the POLYGON command, turning on Orthogonal is not required, but I like to.

POLYGON Enter number of sides :

Specify center of polygon or [Edge]: e

Specify first endpoint of edge: Specify second endpoint of edge:

200

Hi Thanks for your reply but this method only creates an equilateral triangle I am using acad 2004 cheers bob smith

Draw a line representing the one of the sides, then draw circles or arcs from those endpoints with radii that are equal to the 2nd and 3rd sides of your triangle. Where the arcs/circles intersect is the 3rd vertex of your triangle.

Right you are, I've never heard the term scalene, and assumed that it was another name for an equilateral triangle, in which case, Nestly's technique is the way to go. :)

Hi Thanks for your reply There are 3 types of triangular shapes these are Scalene, Equilateral and Isoceles, the Scalene is the triangle that has all the sides and angles different. So its very hard to draw unless you have at least one angle unless Acad has a way to do it. But Nestly's way is definitely the way to go. Thanks for that Cheers bob smith

You could use trigonometry to find the angles.

Or draw it as shown previously and then measure the angles :)
