Intersection of two lines on two different planes

Is there anyway to obtain the point at which a line passed through a plane?

XY = table top

Z vertically up direction

I have created one sketch on the YZ plane of the outline/profile of a fin/rudder.

I then wanted to generate a number of cross section aerofoil profiles that are spaced up the hight of the fin/rudder on XY planes to then loft these XY plane sketches using the YZ profile as the rail.

I have the issue that when I goto generate the XY sketches I can't snap to the where the YZ profile line cuts through the plane.

thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum!

Have you tried using the 'APP' (apparent intersection) OSNAP, yet? It may be helpful. However, you need something to intersect (line, polyline, etc. in the YZ plane).

Can you provide a 3d view of the sketch/drawing?

Thanks for the quick response, I will look into APP

I hope this explains it clearer

Don't look to long. Apparently Bill thinks you are using AutoCAD.

Create a workpoint at the pierce point of the plane and and curve.

You can project this point to your profile or rail curve.

Attach your ipt file here if you can't figure it out.

See the Vacuum tutorial in my signature.

Looking at your image it might also be possible to create a sketch point on the yellow construction point.

Project Geometry the curve and and coincident constraint between the point on the line and the projected curve.

Attach your file here and remove all doubt.

Ahh yep struggled to find anything about APP.

Work point solution is working great, thank you so much for that!

Haha!...JD caught me! I got all caught up in trying to visualize the XY, YZ and XZ planes with a boat rudder that I didn't notice this was posted in the Inventor area! Sorry!

No worries Bill, I appreciate the effort anyway.
