Can someone tell me what Vanilla AutoCAD is? I've noticed it coming up in posts but have no idea what it is.

Plain old AutoCAD without any enhancements. Straight out of the box.

Vanilla meaning PLAIN, not flavored or added to, like one of the Vertical Products.

Yes, I know Vanilla is a flavor, one of my favorites. :)

Some use the word "generic" in place of vanilla.

I prefer peppermint AutoCAD myself.

what Vanilla flavor has to do with natural autocad?

It is not a flavor. Look up the definition of "vanilla" and you see this included...

...having no special or extra features; ordinary or standard.

Now do you understand how the word is being used in reference to AutoCAD versus a vertical product built on top of AutoCAD?

The term is originally derived from ice-cream believe it or not.

'Plain' (or standard) ice cream is vanilla flavoured.

So plain (or standard) versions of software became known as the "vanilla version"
