iExchange Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 I would like to know how I can change the existing sharp corners(or vertexes) of a box to rounded shape? Thank you very much! Quote
Raudel Solis Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 you can utilize the "fillet" select two or 3 edges. to use fillet go into the edges sub object level and pick 2 or 3 edges then on the top somewhere there should be a fillet option if not... just use the quicksearch bar of 3ds max on top to find out how to display the fillet tool Quote
iExchange Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 Thank you! Btw how can I stop precisely at the centre(middle) of a grid box when im moving a vertex point in a (front) viewport? That is the "x"point below, the lines beside represents one of the gridboxes ___ | X | Quote
Cad64 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to do? Can you post some screenshots? Quote
Raudel Solis Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 oh in my opinion? i believe it is obvious he wants to snap to a midpoint and well that is simple.. the snaps work like this... when midpoint snap is on.. it will snap to the midpoint of a segment that you move your mouse over.. the only snaps i use are.. Vertex and midpoint... For modeling purposes like for car modeling i might use perpendicular and other options anyways to edit your snap settings.. right click this button.. on the tool bar.. it should be on top by default.. when it is highlighted blue it means your Snaps are enabled.. to disable you can click it to make it look grey. or you can press S on the keyboard to quickly toggle on/off.. Once you right click it this should appear. check and uncheck what you want and dont want.. i recommend enabling only midpoint and vertex Snap otion to be able to effectively snap to your objective.. to snap to the center.. simply make sure that the MIDPOINT option is checked. now just select your vertex in any viewport "front, back, top, perspective" and drag to the midpoint.. Another technique.. is more complicated.... simply do some math do find the XYZ coordinate of the midpoint.. but that is a waste of time since the SNAP TOOL does everything for you. Quote
Cad64 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 I don't believe the question is obvious at all. It sounds to me like he wants to snap to a midpoint on the grid, not an object or segment. And as far as I know, snapping to a midpoint on the grid is not possible. You would have to change your grid spacing. Quote
