When I open AutoCAD it always opens a new file. Any way to disable that? Typically when I open AutoCAD I am looking for an existing file so I always have to delete/close the new file AutoCAD opened.

Thanks!

AutoCAD opens a new drawing (Drawing1.dwg) by default, based on your defined drawing template. Simply use the Open Command to navigate to, and select the desired (existing) drawing to open, and Drawing1.dwg is closed automagically.

You are referring to the Drawing1.dwg correct?

Kill it by setting the system variable of STARTUP to a value of "1".

Automagically? I like that!

Kill it by setting the system variable of STARTUP to a value of "1"

Or you can set your STARTUP system variable to 2, which will give you another way to go.

If you enter SYSVDLG at the commandline you can then look up the STARTUP command, and available system variable options 0, 1, & 2, and how they differ.
