Hello everyone,

I have customized and written User Interface back since the late 1980 (the .mnu and tablet days). I went from 2004 to 2007 and lived through the change to CUI menu file. My custom menu, which is used daily by a firm I am associated with, is now looking to update their main platform from 2006 to 2012. I've been given the task to update their current menu to work in 2012.

In the mean time I've updated my Auto Cad to 2010 64bit and I'm in the process of upgrading to 2012 64bit. All users at the company and I am heavily dependent on the Legacy Screen Menu.

One of first thing I did was "unload" all reference to a "partial customization" file that had the initials of another company in its name. I got the Auto Cad 2012 to look and work the way everyone is used to. I needed to make some changes in the Legacy Screen Menu.

Much to my surprise when I opened the CUI dialog box, the "Screen Menu" in the "Legacy" category IS NOT THERE . . . I am unable to edit ANY of my screen menu commands. The funny thing is . . . all the screen menu WORKS as they should. The screen menu is being loaded from SOMEWHERE in the computer . . . but WHERE ?? :?

Has this happened to anyone else?

Anyone have any idea how I can get my "Screen Menu" to show up under "Legacy" category in my CUI dialog box?

I also tried to edit the CUIX file in 2010, sins both versions use the same CUIX file. In 2010 under Legacy, the "Screen Menu" shows up and I can open it BUT . . . everything on the right side (editing area) ALL GREYED OUT and I can't make any changes. :x I'm pretty sure it has something to do with "unloading" partial customization file.

I still have my old laptop that has the same CUIX file before I unloaded the "partial customization" file. My stop-gap fix would be to do the necessary editing on my old laptop and transfer the CUIX file to the new computer, but if I have to do more screen menu editing in the future, I'd be lost without my old computer.

Anyone have any idea for a fix?

Thanks

Ed

I'm not quite sure what you are doing but I had to change from making/ adding to the ACAD.MNU file to my own custom one.

Before about 2008 you got the file ACAD.MNU and were able to change it - but now they only give you the compiled ACAD.CUIX. So I left that alone and made a MYCUSTOM.MNU file and added it in using MENULOAD. This creates a MYCUSTOM.CUIX file which Acad uses and bolts it onto the end of the normal menu. Over the years there have been many different ways of making the menubar but it seems to have settled down now to this.

Hope this helps

Autodesk undefined the ScreenMenu command in 2012 (which is a pretty good indication that they intend to put it in a pine box 6 feet under.)

REDEFINE > SCREENMENU at the command line. After it's redefined, it should show up in the CUI.

nestly,

YOU-DA-MAN !!!

Thank you ! Thank you ! :D :D

That worked. "Screen Menu" is back under the "Legacy" category AND everything is editable.

I hope Autodesk doesn't do away with screen menu. We have a large library of blocks that we access through our screen menu.

Thanks

Ed

I wanted to use this method and did a partial mnu, loaded it etc found that I had to tick on the use screen menu's to ON. The other thing was I had to drag the menus up onto the acad Legacy menu then they became useable. Very messy was i doing some thing wrong ?

Second question how do I turn a menu off so it dissapears so I get the screen area back it works like a toolbar so can drag and click x. Some one turning toolbar on and off via lisp.
