cpriedel Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Hi, I swear i have read about this before but i cant seem to find it now that i need it. Here is my problem: I have an X-ref in my drawing that has other files X-refed to it. Whenever i save and close the drawing and reopen it the X-ref has lost its path. This is really annoying and I am not sure what i can do to have it remember the path. The other X-refs in this drawing (which have no nested Xrefs) load just as they are suppose to. One thought was to just Xref the nested Xrefs into the drawing but that would throw off the layer control. Any help would be greatly apprechiated. Thanx Quote
cpriedel Posted October 31, 2008 Author Posted October 31, 2008 Well looks like nobody has an answer so I figure to delete the nested Xrefs and load them into the Host Drawing is the only way to go. Guess i have to do the layercontrol all over again. Yay for me ) Well at least i know that for next time. Lesson learned Quote

ReMark Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 XPATH or RefManager are the two options I've come across the most so far. Disclaimer: I don't use Xrefs so I can't speak in detail about either of these options. Quote
Guest dingo Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Mr Remark, Xrefs are very good for a lot of reasons. they can save so much time and effort. Yes there are problems with them at times, but that is usually because the sender (normally an architectural drafty) doesn't fully understand how they work. Quote
