mitchell,

you change the dimension style. create a new one with a larger text height & apply it. check out this website for further information.

If you are just after finding out how long a line is, you don't have to dimension it to get an answer, just use the command DISTANCE. pick each point you want, and the distance will be displayed on the command line.

you should either increase the text height good enough or annotate your drawing. Just scale the new dimension style to 10 or more & apply it.

you should be fine with it.

Note: You have to go to the "Fit" tab in Dimension Style dialogue box & then increase the 'Use Overall Scale of' option to 10 or more in the 'Scale for dimensions features'. Try it.

Are you dimensioning in Paperspace or Modelspace?

if in PS, Create just one DIMSTYLE with a text height of at least 2mm (standard) then dimension the objects in the Viewports, you'll have a uniformity in dimensioning even on different scaled viewports.

If you are in MS i suggest you explore Annotative Dimensioning.

You could also OPT for making different dimstyles for different scales but why bother when there's an easier way.
