kingneptune117 Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 Hey all, I have autocad 2013. I am looking into buying this book http://www.amazon.com/AutoCAD-2012-LT-Bible/dp/1118022211/ref=sr_1_5?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1339960870&sr=1-5&keywords=mastering+autocad+2012 but this version is for 2012, and there is no 2013 version. Are the differences between 2012 and 2013 subtle enough for this book to still help me? Or are the differences large? Thank you Quote
nestly Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 I would say the difference is very minor. The only truely "new" features are the online features, Autodesk360, and Facebook/Twitter integration (Yeah, I'm rolling my eyes because I wish they hadn't gone there) The rest of the difference are minor enhancements to existing features that you can easily pick up on your own. kingneptune117 Posted June 17, 2012 Author Posted June 17, 2012 the graphical layout of things didnt change though right? i dont wanna get this book and have my autocad and their autocad look like two different worlds Quote
Blackfish Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 Welcome to the forum, I would buy this book if you are new to AutoCAD (if not you wouldn't buy it at all Although the 2013 release is one of these releases which save files in new format and there are a few new features (comparison: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/pc/item?siteID=123112&id=18130139), but any book is fine for training purpose. The rest you need you find in the internet i.a. on this forum Quote
Dadgad Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Welcome to the forum. The biggest differences that I can think of, are the enhancements to the VIEWBASE functionality for creating 2D drawings from 3D solids, SECTION and DETAIL elements have been added, and the ability to edit somewhat the generated drawings by deleting elements from them. Other than that I would say that while you would rather have the 2013 version, it won't be hugely different from the 2012 version. The Autocad Bible is the only autocad book I have ever purchased and I find it to be very well written and a solid reference. You might want to check on Ellen's site to try and find out how soon the 2013 version will be available. Her site is listed in the LINKS on this site. Quote
rkent Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 These are the new things added or changed that I know of, the yellow highlight is my opinion of the significant changes/additions, your mileage may vary. AutoCAD release 2013.pdf Quote
