southwood1990 Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Hi all From time to time i get files sent to me of objects that i have to machine. for an example it may be a square, it appears to be a just 4 polylines, if i use the polyline edit feature and then join them all together it will still show them as individual lines, the only way i have found to make it into one object is to click on a line and get up a grip pull the line away from the other line make a grip on the other line and then move it back. By doing that it will then allow me to pollyline join. anyone help????? Cheers Mark Quote
Grant Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 It sounds like the lines are not able to be polylined because the lines are not together in the first place so Autocad is unable to polyline them together. Try Fillet with a zero radius or lengthen the lines to intersect each other and then trim back. watch out with the grips as you can easily take the line off to a funny angle. Hope this helps Quote
Dadgad Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Grant makes some good points and suggestions there, but maybe the problem is that their elevations vary. If Grant's way doesn't work, then you should select all of the lines, and check their properties. I would do that in my QUICK PROPERTIES palette. You want all of the Z Start and Z Ends to be set to zero, then hit ENTER. I am not sure if the FLATTEN command is available in 2007 or not, if so that would be another way to do it. The CHANGE command would be an old school way. PROPERTIES > ELEVATION > 0 >> . It occurs to me that the very FASTEST way to do it would be to use the RECTANGLE command, and just trace over them, rather than wasting time fixing them. Quote
MSasu Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 After you validate elevations like Dadgad instructed you, may try to join them again using the auto-correct feature of PEDIT command. Start the command, choose the Multiple mode and after select the entities and Join option, you will be prompted to input a value (fuzz distance) and the correction type. Use a value that exceeds a little maximum existing gap and Extend as type. If none of the above solutions works, then you should explode those trouble-maker entities and check to don’t be build in fact from overlapping items. Quote
