hi-liter Posted October 31, 2008 Author Posted October 31, 2008 So I Have To Open A Whole New Program Now To Change An Xref Path???!!!!! What A Terrible Waste Of Time!! It Did Not Even Work Right For One Particular Drawing. Quote
ReMark Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Why don't you calm down. There is no need to yell at me. Open what "whole new program" are you referring to? How many drawings were you trying to repath? Quote
rkmcswain Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 How Do I Browse The Xref To Change Its Path With Acad 09? No you don't need an additional program. 1. Open the External References palette. 2. Highlight the reference file that you want to change. 3. In the Details section, click in the "Found At" field. 4. Either type the new path, or click the tiny button on the right that contains [...] Quote
ReMark Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 You must be referring to RefManager, right? Here is what AutoCAD Help has to say in way of a warning: "Reference Manager is intended primarily for CAD managers who thoroughly understand paths. It changes multiple paths at once, and you cannot undo your actions. Use extreme caution, especially if you are working on a network." Reference Manager has its own Help files. Did you take a look at them first? Quote
ReMark Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 RKM: For my own education...how would this be different from the procedure for changing a search path as found in the Help file. Is the repathing of a Xref a distinctly different procedure? Thanks in advance for any additional insight you can offer. Quote
Guest dingo Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 I would be interested in this also. We are always getting drawings from Architects, and if we don't put them all in the same folder, we have problems with the main drawing not finding the xrefs associated with it. Our trouble is, we must put the main drawing in folder A, and all subsiduary drawings are placed into folder A/B, etc Quote

hi-liter Posted November 4, 2008 Author Posted November 4, 2008 I did not mean to seem rude and i greatly request deepest acceptance for my apology i was actually yelling more at the program then at anyone on this forum; meaning the program was terribly set up and would be a waste time my problem was answered and in the future i will try to be more direct in my complaints rather flying off the handle thanks Quote
ReMark Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 hi-liter: We look forward to your future involvement. Stay cool. Quote
rkmcswain Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Our trouble is, we must put the main drawing in folder A, and all subsiduary drawings are placed into folder A/B, etc If your parent drawing is in "C:\Drawings", and your xrefs are in "C:\Drawings\Xrefs" (as an example)... then your saved relative path is going to be "Xrefs\name_of_drawing.dwg" Quote
