Would like to fill rectangle with backcolor

Hello: I have placed a rectangle in my template and want to know if there's anyway to fill this rectangle with a color?

 

I can use another object if that's better - mainly wanting to be able to fill a pre-determined space with a backcolor.

Did you tried to use the HATCH command with Solid pattern?

I forgot to mention that I'm working in the layout. Can I use Hatch there? I just tried and the ok button was disabled.

I just figured it out and it looks great!!! I have text behind the rectangle though and so now the text isn't showing. do you know how to send the rectangle to the back?

Just select the hatch entity and go to menu Tools --> Draw Order --> Send to Back.

By the way, instead of hatch, may also use the SOLID command (just take care at order of points) or a wide enough polyline.
