enemigoman Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Hello: I was working normally in a drawing (ACAD 2012, 32b) file when, without any apparent reason, I tried to delete something and it didn't work. The way I work is that I select first and then press the "delete" key. Now, when I do this, absolutely nothing happens. The objects remain selected. While trying to figure out what was happening, I discovered further disruptions. For example, when I select and object and then right-click, instead of showing me the edit shortcut menu, it repeats the last command. I know what you are thinking, but I already verified the right-click customizations and it is correctly set to "shortcut menu" in the "edit mode". Finally, when I double click on a text, it won't edit as expected; again, nothing happens. Ane yes, in "Options/Windows standard behaviour" the "Double click editing" options is selected. All the above has it's way around: the "erase" command works, the "ddedit" text works, etc. But it slows me down horribly. I have no idea if this is really an ACAD problem, a Windows 7 problem, or even a mouse problem, but on other software such as MS office, keyboard and mouse work properly. Thanks, Quote
Dadgad Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Did you take a look at the SELECTION tab in OPTIONS? Either your WINDOW SELECTION method, or NOUN/VERB selection seem likely candidates. Or SHORTCUT MENUS in drawing area? Do you want to turn ON your time sensitive Right Click Customization, I always use it. Quote
enemigoman Posted July 1, 2012 Author Posted July 1, 2012 One million thank-yous Dadgad. I set it up as you show and back to normal. No idea how this was changed, though. In my 15+ years using CAD, I had never even looked at this section of the Options Once again, thank you. Quote
Dadgad Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Happy to help, and glad that you're back on the tracks. I swear by the time sensitive right click, as it doubles the functionality of your right click, use it as ENTER or to access shortcut menus. I HATE taking my right hand off the mouse when I am working. You seem to have a good understanding of the set up, I am surprised to hear that you have never fully explored ALL of the OPTIONS tabs. I am reasonably compulsive in this regard. Another great place to dig around is SYSVDLG (system variable dialog box) , where you can learn all about the incredible options available with SYSTEM VARIABLE personalizations. When you find yourself with time to kill, devote an hour to going through those. I will be astounded if you don't change a few settings, once you ponder all of the different ways commands can work. It is probably a good idea to SAVEALL (in the system variable dialog box) before you start making changes, as that will save a .svf (system variable file), in case you later decide you want to reverse all changes, or just take notes of system variables which you change, until you are sure you are happy with the new settings. It is a good file to have once you are happy with your settings too, making it easy to configure system variables to conform with your preferences should you need to use a different machine. If you are going to change these settings on another machine, make sure you save the existing settings before you do, so they can easily be restored when you are through with the machine. Quote
PaulS00 Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 TFPU!!! Oh man, this just saved me from a miserable headache as the shortcut menus are vital for quickly modifying properties of C3D objects. One minute things were running as normal, then my right-click menu didn't work despite my efforts. Thanks again!! Quote
CADPOLE Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Dadgad, You are so far in the territory of "invaluability" it is madness! Everytime I seem to have an issue and look it up, you are the man with the plan. . . . . . . I wonder. . . . . .do you wear a cape? Quote
