JnrCADClaire
Hi, I'm currently running AutoCAD LT 2013, and I've been asked to compare two dwg files; one has been drawn using LT 2013 and the other has been drawn using an older version of the software. Is there any way or any plug that can be used in LT 13 to compare the two drawings? I've looked online and the only program i can find is Furix but that doesnt allow for usage on the LT version of autoCAD. Please help! Thanks Claire
ReMark
Couldn't you xref one into the other and compare them that way?
JnrCADClaire
That was my initial thought to be honest; but Id have thought that autodesk or someone would have developed a command or a patch that would make the process pretty painless. Furix have created a compare tool for the full version of AutoCAD but not the LT version.
ReMark
The "Easy" button is in my boss's office. Wait right there...I'll go get it for you. Do you have access to AutoDesk Design Review? I think there is a simple comparison feature in that piece of software. I am not 100% sure though.
JnrCADClaire
Thanks. I'm not sure if its on there. I'll take a look
ReMark
Please change your profile to read LT 2013 unless you want to get a lot of advice meant strictly for full AutoCAD. I gave you the only help you can count on using LT...Xref. I personally do not know another way to do it. Did you look into AutoDesk Design Review? Does it have a comparison feature? JnrCADClaire
Initially, My first comment about wanting genuine help was aimed at your "The "Easy" button is in my boss's office. Wait right there...I'll go get it for you." which was the only thing you'd written before you edited your post and added the rest of your text, to which my response was promptly changed. If XRef'ing the file is the only option then so be it; i only thought id ask in case someone had any better suggestions. thank you for your help. ReMark
No offense was meant and I can assure you that none was taken. I'm still searching for additional answers to your question. If I find one I will be certain to post it.
JnrCADClaire
Thank you; I do appreciate it. my boss is busting my chops about this whole thing lol I told him that im pretty sure that xref is the only answer lol
ReMark
The only thing I've found so far. http://www.autodwg.com/dwg-viewer/dwgcompare.htm Not sure if it works with LT. Do you know anyone who is running full AutoCAD? Do you have a DWG viewer installed?
tzframpton
Autodesk Design Review works fantastic. Plot both files to a DWFx (identical layouts, of course) and then use the Compare option. I use it all the time when I am in need of comparing updated files from outside clients.
ReMark
Thank you for verifying that fact. I was unsure of ADR's comparison feature. Fact or fiction? Fact!
