CivilPrice Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 I have construction notes build in the label style composer. I need to find a way i can insert a text string so that it will prompt you for the number you want on each note. I have been going through the Edit Label Text menu when you right click the note, but it takes way to long. I know there is a way to get it to prompt you for the number each time or an easier way to change the number of each callout. You know when you are in prospector and you edit a label style The LAYOUT tab has the different components. I have a shaped construction note with a line for the station, the station value equation: this automatically gives me the station I also have text where the number of the construction not would go. in there i just have ?? because I dont know how to ask the text component editor to prompt for a number to enter. Can you do this? I know there has to be a way to just have it prompt you for a number to enter after you set the note??? Any ideas??? Much Appreciation! Eric Quote
Bill_Myron Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Short answer, No. Civil 3D Labels use data that is in the drawing. The number of notes that you have is not saved in the drawing. The only way I can think of doing this would be to use a reference text to a point number. But that would probably take a longer time to create all the points and then select each one everytime you add a note. Quote
CivilPrice Posted July 6, 2012 Author Posted July 6, 2012 this is brutal... there has to be a quick and efficient way to make construction notes with intelligent references to alignments right??? This makes me miss LDD, I was just getting good at creating everything with 2005 hahaha. Now im back to step one. I hate work arounds and putting text with notes. I like everything being all neat and consistant, but it takes forever to do with 2011 civil 3d. I am thinking there has to be a way I can use the multileaders to create a block that will call out station, offset, northing, easting, and linear footage.... Quote
Bill_Myron Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 You can make a General Note Label reference station, offset, northing, easting, and linear footage. You just can not number the notes. Quote
CyberAngel Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 The easiest way to do what you want (if I understand your situation correctly) is to manually edit each label and add a note number. The down side, probably fatal, is that the text will be regenerated every time you rebuild the corridor, and all your text editing will disappear. Depending on what you are attaching your labels to, you may be able to add a piece of data that can serve as a note number. As Bill suggests, points could hold that data, unless of course you're using points for something else. If you dig a little in the documentation, you'll find that you can add a user-defined property to points, and you can then define a label style that references the property. Quote
CivilPrice Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 Thanks guys. I just find it hard to believe that there is no way to make a simple construction note routine that will reference an alignment and give you footage and just let you select what the note number is. I know there were lots of them for LDD... Why autocad would not keep that in mind just blows me away. How do most people do construction notes on Construction Documents? Quote
Bill_Myron Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Can you post a picture of your construction note? You may be able to make it work with Sample Lines. Quote
