mikeklon Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Hi All, Its been a while since I have needed to change the elevation of a object. The problem is that does not list the elevaation in the Properties manager on my quick access tool bar or in QP window. I have used it in the past but now its gone. I an using AutoCAD 2011. Ive tried to use the CUI to find it but no luck. Any thoughts? Thanks MikeKlon Quote
SAFeSTeR Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but are you working with 3D polylines? These don't have a 'global' elevation property, instead they use 2 or more 'Z' vertices which has values that can be independant of each other (1 vertex can be higher or lower than the others). Quote
nestly Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Relatively few AutoCAD objects have an "Elevation" property... what type of object is it? Quote
mikeklon Posted July 19, 2012 Author Posted July 19, 2012 The objects that I want to move to a common elevation are polylines and a circle. These objects were created from extracting edges from a 3D solid. I was able to do this by entering a CHANGE command then selecting the properties sub command then Elev. This worked. I do remember being able to do this with the Properties window on my quick access toolbar. Although, elevation is no longer an option it would be a few less key strokes by having the elevation property available. Quote
Dadgad Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Select a CIRCLE, POLYGON or whatever type of object, the properties of which you want to see. If you have QUICK PROPERTIES turned on, right click anywhere in the border of the box. Choose CUSTOMIZE which will take you to the following images. Here you can specify whichever attributes you wish to include in the QP display for that particular type of object. For the CIRCLE you can see that elevation is not an option, but CENTER Z is, use that instead. For a POLYLINE you can choose to display the elevation by checking the box. SAVE your changes, or APPLY, which will let you then choose another type of object and set it as you wish. I love QUICK PROPERTIES because of this customization, and have gone through the whole list and set up each object type to display the attributes which are generally the most important to me when I am working. Used correctly the QP is a great tool, and really increases ones efficiency. I hope this helps. Quote

Since the CIRCLE and the POLYGON would both need to be selected separately in order to change the different values CENTER Z & ELEVATION respectively, I would probably do it the other way you mentioned with the CHANGE command, for which I've changed the shortcall to CG, as they are close together and I don't want to have to reach all the way up to the hyphen .....the important thing is to make sure you hit ENTER twice after specifying the new elevation. Command: CG CHANGE Select objects: Specify opposite corner: 8 found Select objects: Specify change point or [Properties]: p Enter property to change [Color/Elev/LAyer/LType/ltScale/LWeight/Thickness/TRansparency/Material/Annotati ve]: e Specify new elevation : 0 Quote
