fle Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 How do I globally change the defined width of a group of mtext entities in a drawing? If I select a few mtext entities that I want to make the same width then go to Properties, the Defined Width box says "varies" and is not editable. Seems like long ago I used to be able to do this, but not now. I'm running 2011 autocad. thanks Quote
fle Posted July 18, 2012 Author Posted July 18, 2012 Oops... Upon further playing around, the situation I described above occurs only for mtext that I PASTED into the current drawing. Changing defined width of multiple mtext entities CREATED in this drawing can be still be edited in the Properties box. Still sould be nice to know how to edit pasted mtext width. Quote
SLW210 Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Could you post a drawing file with some of the Mtext? Quote
fle Posted July 18, 2012 Author Posted July 18, 2012 Certainly. (first time posting a file, see if this works) vinalhavenps2.dwg Quote
Dadgad Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 You have DYNAMIC COLUMN style selected, which makes your defined width unavailable for change.. If you turn that off, as shown in the image you will be able to edit their widths enmasse, or individually. Quote
Dadgad Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 I just noticed that the PASTED mtext in your drawing is annotative. In addition to the chosen option of DYNAMIC COLUMNS, this is yet another reason why you cannot edit the defined width on this object. If you want to be able to select and edit the defined width attribute for this, you will need to change the ANNOTATIVE property to NO. Quote
fle Posted July 19, 2012 Author Posted July 19, 2012 Thanks Dadgad Looks like that did the trick! Quote
