Is there a way to lock the layer setup in a viewport, so when i copy and paste it to another paper space tab in the same or different cad file, it keeps the same setup?? (layers frozen / thawed)???

Every time i do it.... all the layers are thawed again!!!

Very frustrating... please tell me what i'm missing here??

You need to save a VIEW and give it a name in your NEW VIEW DIALOG box, and check SAVE LAYER SNAPSHOT. You can see the ICON for the VIEW MANAGER on the VIEW toolbar circled in red.

That or you could create a LAYER STATE.

Turn the viewport into a block, copy/paste the block into the layout(s) then explode it.

Interesting approach nestly, that never occurred to me.

Yeah, definitely one of the more obscure and unusual tricks I've picked up.

While I really like nestly's cool solution to this, I just found something else which might help you.

I rarely use Layer States in my work, but I was just fooling around with them and discovered the flyout arrow menu

on the LAYER STATES MANAGER dialogue. As shown in the image, there are quite a few options which can be specified here, in the LAYER PROPERTIES TO RESTORE list

which could easily get missed by those just passing through. :)
