iainlines Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Hi, Anyone know of a reliable viewer to view .stp files? Thanks Iain Quote
JD Mather Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 AutoCAD 2013 (OK, not strictly a viewer) Free Inventor Fusion (OK, not strictly a viewer) http://labs.autodesk.com but will also allow you to repair and edit STEP files along with several other formats. Quote
tzframpton Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 I always Drag/Drop STP files into AutoCAD Modelspace and they import right in. Granted, like JD says it's no Viewer but if you planned on using it anyways, it works. Just another tip at least. Quote
iainlines Posted July 29, 2012 Author Posted July 29, 2012 Thanks guys. I found a viewer and downloaded it but I need to create some 2D geometry from it. Am planning to dowload Inventor, a program I have no experience in. Expect more questions....... Stykface-any idea if that works in 07? Quote
tzframpton Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Stykface-any idea if that works in 07?Dunno, give it a shot. I believe the FLATSHOT command came out in '07 so you'll be in luck getting accurate 2D geometry from the STP solids once they're imported. Try and and let us know if it works. Quote
iainlines Posted July 30, 2012 Author Posted July 30, 2012 Sadly not, the only thing that drops in is the shortcut as an OLE object. Commencing very long download of Inventor! Quote
