tzframpton Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Parametric modeling applications are perfect for things like this (Revit, Inventor, etc). Just throwing it out there is all as a tip. Quote
nestly Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 SOLIDHIST has to be turned on before solids are modified. That plus CTRL-Click on a face for Subobject selection should yield the same results as shown in the video. Quote

Just throwing it out there is all as a tip. kinda have no choice .. iam architecture .. we use autocad 2d . 3d , revit 2d.3d .. 3ds max .. sketchup ...arcgis 10 and more with photoshop ... as far as i can see .. i still have to learn -.- Quote

If you look at the image you will see the QUICK PROPERTIES palette displaying attributes (which has been customized to display those attributes which I typically might want displayed for a Solid), describing relevant information for the cylinder which is selected. In addition to having your SOLIDHIST to 1, you will notice that I have selected in the palette to RECORD, the default is NONE. Once you do that it will all start to work for you. I have also attached the settings from my OPTIONS > SELECTION tab, which may help you get your grips display sorted out. You mentioned SUBTRACTING in an earlier post, which makes me wonder how you are modeling. If you are still using the EXTRUDE command, and are unfamiliar with it, I would suggest you try the PRESSPULL command which is much easier to use and more powerul than the EXTRUDE command. There is an excellent video in the tutorials section of the EXTRUDE and PRESSPULL commands. The description of PRESSPULL starts at about the 3:30 mark in the video. Edited July 28, 2012 by Dadgad Quote
Dadgad Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 If you enter SYSVDLG at the commandline you will be able to access all of the system variable options, which can be quite enlightening. There are so many ways commands and tools can be used other than the default settings. This images show just a couple of the GRIPS system variable settings. At any rate, I would strongly suggest that time permitting you go through these system variables (meaning the GRIPS ones here) to set them as you would like them. The GRIPMULTIFUNCTIONAL variable would also be of interest to you. Quote

Mena__99 Posted July 29, 2012 Author Posted July 29, 2012 why its so hard to find simple answer like that ? ... maybe its in 2011 only ?? ... maybe i had to install something to make it work ? Quote
Dadgad Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 didnt work out :/ .. nothing happen .. defult is 100 btw but thanks for ur care You no doubt also read in the SYSVDLG that when it is set to 0 the grips always work, which is why I suggested it. Perhaps you should try setting it to a higher number than the 100 default, since it can be as high as 32,000 and change. Quote
