avaninecommuter Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Hi all, I am trying to hatch a long curved path that is composed of polylines and splines that I manually joined together by pedit. When I try to hatch it, I get an error message that says the area is not closed and thus cannot be hatched, but I have no clue where the problem area is. Is there a way to figure out what parts aren't lining up/closed correctly? When I select the object, it shows that all the lines are connected, so I don't really know how to fix this. Thanks, AC Quote
Dadgad Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Select the polyline, and go into the PROPERTIES for it and change the POLYLINE description to CLOSED. Quote
avaninecommuter Posted July 30, 2012 Author Posted July 30, 2012 Okay so now the line is closed but when I hatch it, it hatches everything around the path as well! This probably means there's something wrong with my line? Quote
MSasu Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 In Properties check what you have under Closed field for that polyline. Alternatively when call PEDIT command on it check what option is available Open or Close; if is Close then the poyline is not closed. That it, even if end vertexes are in contact, the oplyline may not be closed in fact. It may help if you will post the drawing with the trouble-maker contour here. Quote
Dadgad Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 That will probably take care of it. If it does not you could try increasing the HALOGAP variable setting on your system. Enter HALOGAP at the commandline, when prompted for a new value increase the current setting by 25% and try again. Quote
avaninecommuter Posted July 30, 2012 Author Posted July 30, 2012 Thanks for the quick responses guys! I've attached the file here: The path I'm trying to hatch is the blue path object. There are three others already hatched. WorkingFile11.dwg Quote
MSasu Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Try to freeze all other layers, explode the trouble-maker contour and recreate it; it should work. Edit: I was able to hatch using the user hatch pattern, but not with your pattern. But after aligned the drawing with WCS it worked well with the NET pattern also. Quote
avaninecommuter Posted July 30, 2012 Author Posted July 30, 2012 Tried that, now I get this error: Hatch spacing too dense, or dash size too small. Hatch Pattern Too Dense I was thinking maybe I can use the hatch pattern I set for the other three for this one but I don't know how to turn that into a preset. Quote
MSasu Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Please check the comments that I added meantime to my previous post. Quote
avaninecommuter Posted July 30, 2012 Author Posted July 30, 2012 Thanks for the help MSasu, I am leaving work now but I will give that a shot when I get back to the office tomorrow. Edit: actually I just tried it real quick and it worked! Thanks for the help! Quote
