andrew239 Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 When creating sections and details, it generates lines of the same colour. Is there any way to apply a colour based plot style to it, or to modify the properties of the items within the section to generate different lineweights. Unless i missed something, the section view manager does not allow this. Quote
ReMark Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 What command did you use? I thought that all the commands that generate 2D sections from 3D models have the option to override both the default linetype and the color as well. Maybe you missed something. Quote
andrew239 Posted July 31, 2012 Author Posted July 31, 2012 i used the base view from model, then the section tool on the create view panel on the Layout tab. Quote
ReMark Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Then I guess we are not talking AutoCAD 2007 as your profile states. After AutoCAD has generated the views you want just open your Layer Properties Manager and change the color and linetype for the layer you are interested in (ex. - Hidden). The View Base command only creates two layers: Hidden and Visible. It isn't that tough to change their properties of either. Quote
andrew239 Posted July 31, 2012 Author Posted July 31, 2012 i updated my profile to 2013. I only started with it last week, at any rate 2013 was in the title. I didnt realise it created the layers. I guess I am stuck with 2 colours and lineweights. Quote
SLW210 Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Solview/soldraw will give you 3 layers for a section: Visible, Hidden and Hatch for the section. Quote
ReMark Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 How many layers do you actually need? Either the geometry is visible or it is hidden. Quote
Dadgad Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 (edited) The viewbase command may create 4 layers if there are tangential curves in your model, and you specify during the commandline prompts that you want them shown. The two which ReMark mentioned will each be supplemented by another layer of the same name, but with the suffix NARROW. You can change the layer names, and other attributes to suit your needs. If you do change the layer names, they will become the default layer names and attributes too, for the next time you use the command. There are quite a few optional prompts at the commandline, you need to select appropriately. Whether or not HATCH is displayed is one such commandline option, although this can also be dealt with in the contextual edit panel for the section view. Edited August 1, 2012 by Dadgad Quote
