BSWMike Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Hi, hope some one can help! I've recently upgraded to AutoCAD 2012 and CADS RC 2012 and a really annoying thing has starting happening! Every time I open a new drawing or an existing one, all the layers are automatically set to 'no plot' so print previews come up completely blank every time! I then need to manually go through all the layers setting them to plot or no plot as required! I'm sure it's a setting somewhere in the multitude of settings, but I can't seem to find it. Your help would be much appreciated. Quote
MSasu Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Not sure if will help in your case, but may try to check if VISRETAIN system variable is set to 1 in that trouble-maker drawing. Quote
BSWMike Posted August 1, 2012 Author Posted August 1, 2012 I've checked this and seems to make no difference. I've even got a colleague to open a drawing I've been nowhere near and set Visretain to 1 and check all layers are set to plot. I've then opened the same drawing and low and behold all layers are now set to 'no plot'! To make matters worse, every drawing I now save, saves all the layers as 'no plot' so now my colleagues are having to adjust the layers before they can print! I think I'll try an installation repair at lunch to see if it resets things back to default setting unless you can think of any thing else? Quote
Organic Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Could it be a lisp you have set to autoload and execute when you open AutoCad/a drawing that (for some reason) sets all the layers to not plot? Quote
BSWMike Posted August 1, 2012 Author Posted August 1, 2012 In answer to Dink87522; unless it is a LISP that came with the 2012 software I can't see how it could be this, as I've not had to load any since installing the software. I've checked the APPLOAD and there is nothing that jumps out as being plot related in the list of loaded apps. Quote
SLW210 Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Which version of CADS RC do you have? There is no CADS RC 2012, latest version is v9.09 and is the only version compatable with AutoCAD 2012. I would uninstall CADS RC and repair or reinstall AutoCAD and see if the problem is resolved. Quote
BSWMike Posted August 1, 2012 Author Posted August 1, 2012 SLW210 you are quite correct, it is version v9.09 CADS RC we have. I think I've got no option but to try your idea of uninstalling and reinstalling the software, as others in the office had the same software installed at the same time and don't have this problem; and although it's sometimes nice to be unique, that's certainly not the case now! I'll post the result later when I've had a chance to try it. Quote
BSWMike Posted August 3, 2012 Author Posted August 3, 2012 Hi, just thought I'd give a quick update in case anybody else experiences this; but I uninstalled CADS RC and repaired AutoCAD but no improvement. Had to go the whole hog and uninstall AutoCAD and reinstall which seems to have fixed the problem hurrah! Just got a minor problem of not being able to reinstall CADS RC properly but I'll leave that to the IT chaps. Thanks for your help. Quote
