hanshupf
hey. I have two DWG files and I want to paste the content of the first into the second file with the original coordinates. It sounds very easy (and I am sure it is) but I am still failing. I open the first file, select all (crtl a), copy all (crtl a), open the other file and want to chose the function: right click > paste with original coordinates. But this open is not active (grey) and can not be clicked. why? what am I doing wrong? Actually there is no paste function available to click on if I do a right click. thanks. btw. I am working with AutoCAD 2012.
Tyke
Open the second file and insert the first file from block insert by browsing to the file. Don't forget to tick the box to explode on insertion or you will have it as a block in the second drawing.
Organic
You need to go Edit => Copy in the first drawing (not jsut ctrl-c) then Edit => Paste to original coordinates in the second drawing.
designerstuart
or try ctrl+shift+c COPYBASE give basepoint of 0,0,0 go to other drawing ctrl+v (paste) specify coords 0,0,0 make sure your UCS is in world in both drawings
hanshupf
thanks for your answers. I figured out now that I can click on "paste with original coordinates" when I also select all (crtl a) in the second file. seems to work. I don't see the reason for it, but well... at least it works. thanks.
