hju Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 I drew the polar arrayed rectangle as attached and tried to trim the inside lines to create an octagon but i cant trim the object. However, if i try the same thing without polar arraying ( i.e just by drawing the two rectangles similarly) it works. I would like to know what might be causing this. Thanks! Quote
Dadgad Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Welcome to the forum. Why not use the POLYGON command instead? Follow the commandline prompts, number of sides 8, very simple. This is NOT the right way to create an OCTAGON. I believe that if you exploded the array, then you would be able to trim the offending lines. Quote
MSasu Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Seems that you are looking to create a star with 8 corners, not an octagon. Up to my knowledge in AutoCAD 2012 you have associative arrays, so this seems to be the reason that prevents you doing that trim operation; try to use the classical command ARRAY instead or disable associativity feature if use the new ARRAYPOLAR. MSasu Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 There also seems to be a new command named ARRAYEDIT that may allow you to remove the associative behavior. Quote
hju Posted August 5, 2012 Author Posted August 5, 2012 Thanks a lot! I know i could have done it using simpler commands but the point was to understand why i wasn't able to trim the array. I am new to autocad so i knew there was something very simple i was missing out on. Thanks for the help, i have figured out the EXPLODE command as well. Thanks a lot! Quote
