VESanchez Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I am trying to draw on a screen shot from Google Earth. The image has a scale legend that has a measure line that is "80ft". I try to do a scale>reference to make my line equal 80 ft but instead the line I create is "2.75 inches". So I am trying to create a scale that equals what my screen shot is. Does this make sense? Dadgad Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 (edited) Scale it up using the SCALE FACTOR displayed in the calculator image. Edited August 9, 2012 by Dadgad Quote
VESanchez Posted August 9, 2012 Author Posted August 9, 2012 Thank you so much!! I imported the screen shot at 349.090909 the scale and it worked!! Quote
Dadgad Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Glad to have been of assistance, and welcome to the forum. Quote
eldon Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I have frequently used Google screen shots with a scale legend, and have no trouble scaling up by reference. Perhaps your technique is not quite right. I draw a line on top of the scale legend, and then scale everything (screen shot image and line) about one end of the line, reference length is from one end of the line to the other, and the new length is 80. No need for calculation. Quote

SLW210 Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I thought 2012 had the Google Earth Extension? Quote
Dadgad Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I believe you are correct, I've used it, and forgotten all about it. Quote
VESanchez Posted August 9, 2012 Author Posted August 9, 2012 I should clarify. I am a financial analyst and picked up Autocad editing duties because our engineers are too busy. I was sent to a one week training, and can do things on already created files but I have never scaled or used a screen shot. Thanks for all the help! I appreciate the feedback. Eldon, can you run me through you method a bit more in depth? I understand what you are saying but do not know how to execute. Quote
eldon Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Without giving an in-depth tutorial, I am not sure if I can add anything to my previous post. You are familiar with drawing lines, using Osnaps and zooming in and out? and read the command line. Quote
