Squirltech Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 The PURGE command will remove unused entities, layers, blocks, etc... from your drawing. Quote
ReMark Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Just type the word PURGE at the command line and press ENTER. Now look at all the entities listed. Purging a drawing of unreferenced entities will reduce the overall file size. In some cases, not all, the size reduction can be substantial. I recommend the use of the command line version of PURGE which requires a dash in front of the word like this: -purge. Purge Regapps first. Repeat the command but use the option of "All". Now follow this up with an AUDIT of the drawing (to fix errors) then save your drawing. Quote
moonh Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 That is one of the CAD basics, and a excellent tool to remember. If a drawing has errors, it can slow down the drawing. Quote
Cad64 Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 If a drawing has errors, it can slow down the drawing. PURGE just removes unused elements, as described previously. It does not fix errors. You must run an AUDIT if you want to check for errors. Quote
PotGuy Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 As per above, as Purge removes unused layers, blocks, lines etc: from it's memory. Useful if you have to send a drawing and keep memory down, and help, if a block does't paste through, can run a purge on blocks. Quote
ReMark Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 The unreferenced entities that are purged are removed from the drawing thus reducing the file size. They are not removed from memory. Quote
PotGuy Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Well, that's my understanding improved! Quote
