igones Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Hi everyone, I'd like to know how can i join these objects. I'm trying to use PEDIT command but no success. The objects are not touching so it's not possible? How can i join two objects that aren't touching each other. Thanks! Quote
MSasu Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 For sure you cannot join them, but you can tie them toghether - check the BLOCK or GROUP commands. The join concept refers to contiguous entities being in contact - please check the help of PLINE and PEDIT commands. Quote
Dadgad Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 The FUZZ FACTOR definition at the end of the series of commands allows you to specify the FUDGE factor (meaning how great an opening will be bridged). Or you could just use the FILLET command, with 0 as the fillet distance. Then JOIN them after they have all been extended by the FILLET command. If you don't want to have to respond to queries about changing nonpolylines to polylines? Set your PEDITACCEPT SYSTEM VARIABLE TO 1 (at your commandline). Quote
Dadgad Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 For sure you cannot join them, but you can group them toghether - check the BLOCK or GROUP commands. The join concept refers to contiguous entities being in contact - please check the help of PLINE and PEDIT commands. Mircea, I suspect that igones doesn't want to JOIN the two circles, and instead wants to JOIN the two lines defining the rectangle. I've been wrong before though, so let's see what he means. Quote
JD Mather Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 igones, you better provide more information as your original problem description doesn't make logical sense in AutoCAD functionality terms. (especially PEDIT) Quote
designerstuart Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 your original problem description doesn't make logical sense in AutoCAD functionality terms. (especially PEDIT) that's probably why they posted in the beginner forum. is the language of AutoCAD the only one you speak? i think you're after the BLOCK command - this means when you select one entity, all the others connected inside the block are selected too. is this what you're trying to do? Quote
rkent Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Select them both, right click, Group, Group. Or use the Block command. Quote
igones Posted August 15, 2012 Author Posted August 15, 2012 Let me try to explain it better. I know how to turn lines into polylines. But, i want to turn different objects into one object. And other thing I want to know is to "group" objects, like when i click in one part of the object (rectangle) the whole object (rectangle + circle) be selected. Sorry for my Brazilian English Quote
ReMark Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 As others have already said the command you are looking for is GROUP or BLOCK. Have you used either of these commands before? Quote
igones Posted August 15, 2012 Author Posted August 15, 2012 No, never. But i'm gonna google it now. If i fail using these commands, i'll post here. Thanks! Quote
igones Posted August 16, 2012 Author Posted August 16, 2012 Wow, Group command is what i was looking for. And you can turn them on and off whenever you want. Very useful command. Thanks everybody! :D:D Quote
neophoible Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 FFR in regard to the initial post: Note that Circles cannot be operated on by the commands JOIN or PEDIT even if they are touching another object. Also, Closed Polylines are immune to being further connected even if they are touching another object. They are both already self-contained entities. If you want to work on connecting such items, you might try using the BREAK command, but note that you cannot BREAK a Circle at a single point. You would have to first create at least two ARCs, instead. And note that ELLIPSEs currently cannot be operated on by JOIN or PEDIT even if they are only partial ELLIPSEs. PS Igones, are you sure you are Brazilian? Your English writing looks a lot like a native speaker's. Impressive! Quote
igones Posted August 22, 2012 Author Posted August 22, 2012 Thanks neophoible! Yeah, I'm brazilian, I wish that were so, haha! Here, we start with English in Elementary school. But, even so, almost every Brazilians just know the basic. Quote
JD Mather Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Yeah, I'm brazilian, I wish that were so, haha! Here, we start with English in Elementary school. But, even so, almost every Brazilians just know the basic. Here in the USA we start with English even before Elementary school. But even so, most (North) Americans know just the basics of writing English (and I'm not sure even that much)! Quote
ReMark Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Many people in my city can barely speak the English language and they have been here for a while. Forget about writing it. Quote
designerstuart Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 no doubt you are programmed in English(US) ReMark i've been trying to teach my computer that it is English(UK) for years, but it doesn't learn! Quote
