nicknack Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Hi I am having a little trouble with the appearance of my shadows for an outdoor architectural scene. Lighting setup is mr sun with skylight off and an independent skylight added. below are a couple of images showing what i mean 1st one shows structure with nasty looking shadow pattern under, 2nd is a test to see how it looked under direct light, and 3rd is a test to see if the geometry was causing the ugly shadows. Any ideas what i should be changing to make it look a little more natural? Quote
spittle Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Are you refering to the patchyness? Without know what lighting or render settings you're using my first guess would be to say that your problem is due to low quality Final Gather settings. Indoor lighting is trickier than exterior scenes, first try and increase the settings, then use in combination with Global Illumination if it's either taking too long to render. There are tons of tutorials on line to help you learn how to use FG and GI properly and optimise your lighting. Have a browse at some tutorials on this site: http://www.ramyhanna.com/ Quote
