LeonvanRensburg Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Hey, All I'm considering upgrading my Student version of Inventor to the full version. I've spent maaaaany hours drawing small parts and making assemblies for a wide range of things, so when I do the upgrade, will I still be stuck with the print label if I open these designs and save them using the new software? I'd like to go commercial with these designs, therefor the full version. Thanks! Quote
Dadgad Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Welcome to the forum. Having zero experience with this, I would say that sounds extremely unlikely. As the whole intent of the student versions would seem to be bringing new users into the fold, and to eventually convert those student licenses into full licenses, and their users into Autodesk devotees. There are those who can, and I'm sure will, answer authoritatively, but if it were a bet, I'd be pretty comfortable the answer will be NO. Quote
Tiger Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 As Dadgad, I really don't know for sure but I will put my vote on that the stamp will still be there. These assemblies where still created with an EDU-version, no matter what version you are using now/soon. Quote
JD Mather Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 You must start over on all design work. When you purchase the commercial license (http://store.autodesk.com) simply go to Help>About Inventor>Product Information>Change Serial Number - you do not need to uninstall/reinstall (this assumes you are purchasing Inventor Professional). Dadgad Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 There you have it, an authoritative response, and I am significantly more confident that JD's answer is correct, than I was that, my hypothesis might have been. Neither the first, nor the last time I've been wrong. Tiger prevails, good call. Live and learn. Quote
Organic Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 You will be stuck with the print label. Any new files you create and copy objects in from a file with the educational version will add the plot stamp to your new file as well. Quote
JD Mather Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 The EULA (End User License Agreement) that you agreed to stipulated that you would not make any attempt to remove the edu banner and not use any work created with student license for other than learning use. Any attempt to violate the terms of the license put you (or your company) at serious financial risk. The free student license is available to any students of any age anywhere in the world (currently close to 5 million Autodesk Student Community members). Quote
