synergo Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Hi, My trial version of AutoCAD 2013 expired, and I want to get one that is not so expensive as the professional version. I am a beginner trying to learn...Any advise, whats the best to get? Is the Student version of AutoCAD 2013 have the same features and applications as the professional one? Do you have any idea how much it is and where to find them? I am not attending to any school, can I still buy the student version if ever it is the cheapest one to get...? sorry, I have so many questions. I would really appreciate any valuable response. Need your help...:)Thank you. Quote
ReMark Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Students can download a free version of many AutoDesk programs including AutoCAD at the Educational Community of the AutoDesk website. The only difference I know of between the student and commercial versions is the educational banner that shows up on all four sides of a drawing when it is printed. The other alternative is to download the free AutoCAD clone called DraftSight. Be advise it is only for 2D drawings. You can find it at the dassault systemes website. Quote
synergo Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 Thanks QM. I will try to browse the website you suggested...for now, I dont need to print anything, so it doesn't bother me about the banner you said. Thanks for taking time to respond... Quote
ReMark Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 If you really need 3D capability there are so low cost AutoCAD clones like ZwCAD, ProgeCAD, IntelliCAD, nanoCAD and Bricscad that you might want to check out. They are even cheaper than AutoCAD LT. You're entirely welcomed. Quote
synergo Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 ReMark, I found the website of the educational community in Autodesk, I registered, and all I have to do now is to install the student version. For now, I will try this if this will work but I'll remember this additional suggestion u gave just in case. I hope the student version is as good as the commercial one for 2D & 3D except for what you said the annoying banner during plotting LOL. But that's fine, they deserve the credit since this is free. Thanks again for helping me. I am new here, and really appreciate that you respond. Quote
ReMark Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 It is a full featured version just like the commercial one. You should have no problems nor should you be disappointed. Welcome to the CADTutor forum. Enjoy your stay. Hope to see you around again. Regards, ReMark Quote
