Cadet 84 Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Hi everyone, I haven't been on here in a while. Been crazy:bloodshot: busy, sorry about that! I have a question for ANYONE that can help me out. I want/need to do a Darfting course through work. I am supposed to be doing a cadetship but I have not been doing all that much study due to the fact that there is nothing available at the TAFE in Australia QLD. I am happy/prefer to do it via correspondence. In the end my boss (and I) would prefer that I have a certificate at the end confirming that you are now a qualified Drafty, like you would for a boilermaker or an electrician. Is there ANY such thing available?? Please help!!! I am pulling my hair out with various phone calls and web browsing. Cheers, Tyarna! Quote
Tankman Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 There are numerous online courses and more tutorials than one can count. Start with the tutorials. You might try http://www.worldwidelearn.com/online-training/CAD-training.htm for starters. Good luck! Quote
rookie37 Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 keep trying at tafe. just because you can't find it does not mean it isn't offered. I have a tafe certificate tafe has intentionally made classes hard to find This is because they want to sell you a course instead It's a marketing thing. They make more by selling a 4 year course and are trying to stop offering a certificate that can be done in 6 classes Try to sign up for a 4 year course or whatever they are trying to flog but then drop out after 1 year. They also try to keep people from doing this. They prevent it by requiring classes before they allow you to take the cad classes and make it hard for you to get an exemption. An exemption can be gotton thru recognition of pryor learning (RPL) but they clog this up with red tape. This is wrong because the reason why the government started tafe is so that people with full time employment can take short courses. I don't know why they are allowed to rape the system that was set up to help people. They probably don't offer certificates for that anymore Quote
Cadet 84 Posted November 7, 2008 Author Posted November 7, 2008 Thanks for that guys! The thing is I have been doing drafting for 2 years and done a few TAFE modules. But I want actual credentials behind me. Something to say "hey, I am a qualifies drafty" My employer is not happy with a couple of statement of attainments . It is horribly frustrating because in WA there are a couple of Drafting Courses you can do but not via correspondence..... Quote
rookie37 Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Ole (pronounced as oly) is Open Learning Enrolment. It is a TAFE that can be accessed anywhere through the internet. Quote
