redbeardcad Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 I have both 2012 & 2913 and both are doing the same thing so I must be doing something wrong. In PS, I double click in the VP to set scale and rotate or rather twist view so that it fits paper better. When I double click it zooms all and rotates back to 0. Then if I try to changr scale to say 1"=40' it locks up. Screen goes sort of white transparent. Can't get out of it except to go to task manager and end task. Quote
SLW210 Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Sounds like a graphics card or driver problem. Try turning Hardware acceleration ON/OFF. Is this in one drawing, a few drawings or all drawings? Quote
redbeardcad Posted October 8, 2012 Author Posted October 8, 2012 Where do I find Hardware Acceleration? SO far it is only 2 drawings. One is a save as from the other. In the past I had our site plan rotated in model space and would have VP set to 0 degrees. Now since we get several drawings from other firms I have the model at 0 and twist the VP. So when I want to do something, I unlock VP and the Twist goes to 0 and scale 1:1. Quote
Dave^ Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Start with "UCSFOLLOW" and set to "0", sounds like it's at "1" at the moment... Then take it from there... Quote
redbeardcad Posted October 8, 2012 Author Posted October 8, 2012 My UCSFOLLOW is set at the opposite angle of the twist. Quote
SLW210 Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 My UCSFOLLOW is set at the opposite angle of the twist. UCSFOLLOW is a system variable and can only be 0 or 1. It took me a few tries with viewport unlocked and clicking back and forth from model (through the viewport) to paperspace to get it to change to plan and zoom all. This may have some effect on the zoom all and changing to PLAN, though locking up and turning translucent white, will not be caused by the UCSFOLLOW setting. Quote
redbeardcad Posted October 8, 2012 Author Posted October 8, 2012 Maybe I'm thinking SNAP ANG. Duh. My UCSFOLLOW is set to 0. I'm at a loss. My graphic card is a ATI FireGL V3600. I'll bet its the best one to use right? (not) Cad is very low on the $ priority. I'm also using Vista which always seems to have issues. Quote
Dave^ Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 The UCSFOLLOW variable can be set in Modelspace and Paperspace, so make sure it is set to 0 in both before we can rule it out. The command acts on the current workspace, so do it on the layout with no active viewports, then activate a viewport and set it again... Just to be sure... PS - to turn hardware acceleration on or off, click on the 4th icon in from the right at the bottom of the screen, looks like a chip with a lightbulb... between the padlock and the "Trusted DWG" icon... (apologies if it sounds like I'm teaching you to suck eggs...) Quote
redbeardcad Posted October 8, 2012 Author Posted October 8, 2012 OK, model and PS are set to 0. I clicked in unlocked VP and it zoomed out to max and rotated to 0 degrees. I click Viewport Scale to select the scale I want and now just the VP blanks and just sits there. Still locked up, so X out of ACAD. Quote
SLW210 Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 I would say this is a graphics card/driver issue. Could also have something to do with Vista, 2012 and 2013 are unsupported on Vista. Quote
redbeardcad Posted October 8, 2012 Author Posted October 8, 2012 Does that mean that Autodesk will not update any issues related to Vista/ACAD 2013? If so this might be good news. Maybe I can get a Windows 7 machine now. But more likely just a new graphics card. What card should I ask for? Quote
SLW210 Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Yes, an upgrade to Win 7 might be best, if not... I would find something certified from Autodesk. HERE You want find anything certified for 2012/2013 on Vista, so just find something for Vista on 2011 or an XP/Win7 on 2012/2013. Quote
redbeardcad Posted October 8, 2012 Author Posted October 8, 2012 Thanks for your help, I'll check it out. Quote
pendean Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Lock your viewport after you set it. Always. Best practice, get into that habit. With it locked, double-click inside that viewport and set UCSFOLLOW to 0. If that does not work, post that DWG file here and lets all have a look. PS: we don't need to tell you to delete sensitive info first, do we? Quote
