billyjo182 Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 I'm using Inventor 2013, trying to figure out the easiest way to make tractor treads for a wheel. Please see attached files. Wheel Back.ipt ok well, two of the files I could not attach because they were two big, basically I had to make a tire in two parts because it is being molded out of carbon fiber. So I made a front half, and a back half. The wheel also has a concave around the outside diameter so it's not a perfect cylinder, meaning I could not use the project 2d to 3d, because it ignores any shape that is not a perfect cylinder/square...etc.... I have attached the files though, All I want to do is wrap a (non-perfect) cylinder with the treads, such a cat backhoe, or front loader wheel. Any tutorials or links to point me in the right direction would be great. Wheel Tread.ipt Quote
JD Mather Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Here is your same file with End of Part rolled up and zipped. Note the file size. Your sketch is unconstrained and duplicated dimensions (not needed). You are doing too much work. recommend starting here http://home.pct.edu/~jmather/SkillsUSA%20University.pdf Then here http://wikihelp.autodesk.com/enu?adskContextId=HELP_TUTORIALS&language=ENU&release=2013&product=Inv... Then here http://inventortrenches.blogspot.com/p/inventor-tutorials.html well for some reason I can't add attachments here this morning - I'll come back later. Quote
