alijahed Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Hi All, Please don't give me a hard time by saying that was AutoCAD and this is Inventor I am about making a wooden structure out of 90x45 stud. After extruded the stud 90x45x250mm and save it as stud.ipt I went through adoptive features in Inventor but you can not insert stud.ipt several times in assembly and having the adoptive feature at the same time. I want some flexibility to build my structure using just one part stud.ipt. Is it possible? I hope I made my point clear. Please let me know if you need more information on this. Cheers Ali Quote
JD Mather Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 iPart iLogic Frame Generator (any one of those 3 options) I would use Frame Generator with custom profile. Quote
alijahed Posted October 10, 2012 Author Posted October 10, 2012 Thanks, I went for frame generation but all of them related to Metalic sections. There is a drop-down menu for material but is there any solid rectangular section? I briefly looked at it but didn't find any. Quote
alijahed Posted October 10, 2012 Author Posted October 10, 2012 test.zipI cannot select my sketch to make a frame out of frame generator?! Quote
Bishop Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 I haven't had time to look at your file, so I may be way off target here, but you can't use sketches in the assembly as a skeleton for frame generator. The sketch has to be in a part file. Whenever I use Frame Generator, I will 99% of the time create a part named "FRAMEGEN SKELETON" or something similar, and it only contains a sketch. Quote
JD Mather Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 You should go through the Frame Generator tutorials first. (as noted - you need a Skeleton.ipt in your iam) http://wikihelp.autodesk.com/Inventor/enu/2012/Help/2144-Tutorial2144/2145-Inventor2145/2731-Frame_Ge2731 You can add your own custom profiles and materials to the shapes/list.
