iamhayes1959 Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Hi, I'm trying to create a Vortex Grit Chamber in 3D, the trouble I'm having is the sloped bottom. The top starts at 20 feet diameter goes down about 8 feet, then slopes to about 10 feet diameter. Can anyone give me some insight how to create it. The wall thickness is 12". If you have trouble understanding, take a quick look online at WesTech (vortex grit chamber). Thanks Quote
ReMark Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Couldn't you just use a couple of circles and loft them to create the cone? Or create the profile and revolve it? Quote
ReMark Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Down and dirty. For informational purposes only. Quote
tzframpton Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Are you trying to make a custom AutoCAD MEP Fitting? ReMark's example definitely works, but uses standard AutoCAD 3D modeling techniques. Just curious is all from your post heading. Quote
iamhayes1959 Posted October 23, 2012 Author Posted October 23, 2012 Hi, No, not trying to create a custom fitting (it's a structure). I'll try the loft command and see what luck I have. The drawing ReMark posted looks a lot like what I need. As I stated just learning 3D. Thanks Quote
iamhayes1959 Posted October 23, 2012 Author Posted October 23, 2012 Thanks ReMark, greatly appreciated. Have a great afternoon/evening! Quote
samchums26 Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 you can also take the profile and use the revolve command. Quote
samchums26 Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 remark....i did not notice your comment.. Quote
