firebird Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 ATI has started an "Idea Exchange" for FirePro workstation graphics accelerators on the FireUser website. ReMark Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Thanks for the invite firebird. I was a former ATI graphics card user for many years but eventually switched over to nVidia. Somewhere along the way I think ATI neglected their CAD user base in favor of gamers. Although very similar in their need for more and better graphics I think CAD users wanted features exclusively aimed at them and their line of work. Quote
firebird Posted November 7, 2008 Author Posted November 7, 2008 Tell ATI what you want specifically as a CAD user. The Idea Exchange is really designed to help them deliver the best product based on what users want (rather than based on what marketing and engineering wants). So if you have any specifics take advantage, and tell them on fireuser dot com. I think the more specific you can be, the more they will listen. They have made a lot of changes to their drivers in the last year, so it is worth re-evaluating. But as an AutoCAD user, you probably have specifics you want to see. Quote
ReMark Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Thank you firebird. I'll certainly give that some thought. Any chance you might be sticking around the CADTutor website in the future? Sounds like you have some good knowledge re: graphics cards we might be able to put to use here. Quote
firebird Posted November 7, 2008 Author Posted November 7, 2008 I'm sticking around. But I am actually trying (wish me luck) to get an ATI engineer to visit these forums every month or so, to specifically answer any questions related to hardware or drivers. Quote
ReMark Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 I'm glad to hear you'll be sticking around. I'm even more thrilled to hear that you are going to suggest to an ATI engineer to pay us a visit. We may not be the equivalent of AUGI or the AutoDesk Discussion Groups but we do attract a fair number of CAD users from all over the world with enough questions, opinions and experiences to fulfill anyone's needs. I'll certainly keep my fingers crossed. I cordially invite you to join in the discussions and share your knowledge with us. Welcome to CADTutor firebird. Quote
