Centerline question and default hatch color?

Recommended Posts

Hey gents,

Okay here is my latest question. I am doing some hatch work for the first time. Is there a default color generally used for hatching?

And in the drawing I uploaded do I need a centerline in the front view. I toyed with putting one in but it falls directly on the object line, so was not sure how to work that.

I know it may be hard to visualize without the reference drawing but its just basically a hollow cylinder with four slots and one keyed hole penetrating the bottom.

As always thanks in advance!

I don't know if it is industry standard , but Till now I have always used grey color - color 8 or color 252 for hatches in the drawing. It is mainly soothing to the eyes and you can see the object lines more prominently against the grey hatch.

One more reason is we use ctb file for plotting and hatch needs to printed light so we set up line weight for grey color .5 so that hatch prints light.

The only standard would be for hatch to plot thinner than the object lines.

If you have the option I would do a section half way through rather than the one quarter you are showing. Then in the two slots that are shown in hidden lines, you don't show the second lines, where the slot meets a vertical surface that is not shown with lines.

Finally you will need to show the section lines, etc.

You can show the center line and just let it end up under the object line

Thanks guys,

And I was required to do a half hatch, that was why I was questioning the centerline, I went ahead and added it, see what my instructor says. I also added the sections lines I would have completely forgot about those so thanks! Once again the forums are well worth the time, thanks to you both for responding. And I went with gray for the hatch color it actually looks much better than blue, the blue was kind of hard to see.

Thanks again.
