Buzza Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Hi Guys, I have a drawing with a table on it that I need other people to be able to fill in. As they don't have access to AutoCAD I thought the best way would be to copy it into word and add the table in there. My problem is I can only get the contents of a viewport to copy if the visual style is set to 2d wireframe using the COPYLINK command. I need to use conceptual and a custom visual style. WMFOUT, JPGOUT and BMPOUT are the same as well. PDFs export ok but I'm having trouble copying to word through that. Does anyone have a work around for what I am trying to achieve? Quote
tzframpton Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 If it's a table then use Excel instead. This way you can use the DATALINK command, and all edits are bi-directional. See if this may be useful. Quote
Buzza Posted November 6, 2012 Author Posted November 6, 2012 Good idea, but the end user would have to have autocad to update the link information? Unless I have missed something? Quote

That's what I meant by "bi-directional". All they would have to do is edit the Excel file, and it will automatically update for you in AutoCAD. Vice-versa, you edit the Table in AutoCAD, and when you save it'll write to the Excel file so next time whoever opens the Excel file, it'll show the changes you made from AutoCAD. Just make sure this option is selected in the Datalink Options: Quote
Buzza Posted November 7, 2012 Author Posted November 7, 2012 That could work. Will the date be updated if opened using a dwgviewer for printing purposes? I will give it a try later when I get 10 mins. Thanks StykFace!! Quote
Buzza Posted November 8, 2012 Author Posted November 8, 2012 This did not work with the AutoDesk Trueview. However it did call the excel file. Can anyone help further on this one? Thanks Quote
tzframpton Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 That's because TrueView views DWG files, it doesn't edit DWG files. Quote
