Inventor 11 crashes when inserting image files in .dwgs

I've tried tiff, jpeg, png, etc. and when I hit the save button it will crash every time. Occasionly I get a warning that "Paint" is not the default image viewer. I then make that file format default To the "Paint" program with no positive results. Has anyone had this issue and were you able to resolve it?:?
