Ridation Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Hello , I use Cad2013 . During a line command , I can not see the length beside the courser , so I have enter the length using keyboard and it is very time consuming . I do not remember if I changed any default settings but It used to work properly . Win 7-32 bit - cad2013 full version - no plugins - No viruses . Quote
MSasu Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Check on the status bar (at the bottom of AutoCAD's window) for a button named Dynamic Input, do a right-click on it and from the menu chouse Settings. Make sure that the modes you want are enabled and also that the above named button is toggled on. Alternatively set the DYNMODE system variable to 3. Quote
Ridation Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 It worked . Thank you so much . But I did not find the Dynamic Input button so used the DYNMODE command . What exactly this command do ? Quote
MSasu Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 You're welcome! The said button is located at the bottom of your screen (on AutoCAD interface) - most probably you had is set to display as icons; just hover the mouse over those buttons and check what the tooltip label says to locate it. The DYNMODE isn't a command, is a system variable; that it, a kind of switch that controls drawing environment. This particular one manage the way dynamic input feature behave. Please check in help for more details. Quote
Ridation Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 Thank you Mircea , It was very useful Quote
MSasu Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 You're entirely welcome! Glad I could help. And, by the way, welcome to the Forum! Quote
Dadgad Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Welcome to the forum. Whenever you want to research the available system variable options, or confirm your current system variable settings use the SYSVDLG command, and you will find an absolute wealth of information, as evidenced by the attached image describing the DYNMODE system variable. Should you not be familiar with the additional DYNAMIC DIMENSIONAL INPUT settings, as shown in the second attachment, there are a number of useful and interesting different ways to go. As Mircea pointed out, you likely have the DYNAMIC INPUT ICON at the bottom of your screen, as circled in red in the other image. If you do not see it, then it must have been disabled in the TOGGLE SELECTION menu in the lower right hand corner of your screen. Quote
JD Mather Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 .... so I have enter the length using keyboard and it is very time consuming ... Let's back up a minute. How would you enter a length without using the keyboard? You're not eyeballing these lengths are you? Quote

I still don't understand how you are working without keying in dimensions? Are you using snap to grid - limited to only the grid points? Quote
Ridation Posted November 5, 2012 Author Posted November 5, 2012 Oh , sorry I meant snap . Yeah , using snap will make it possible . Quote
