ittayd Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Hi, I don't know how, but a drawing I was working on forever stopped having grip points like it used to. More precisely, when I click a line there's only one grip point that can be used only for moving the line, not stretching. I have all selection modes turned on in the selection options thanks, ittay Quote

nod684 Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 GRIPS is set to 2 there are only 0 and 1 choices... 0 = Disabled 1 = Enabled Quote
ittayd Posted November 7, 2012 Author Posted November 7, 2012 AutoCad accepts 2... Changing the value to 1 makes no difference Quote
MSasu Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 On newer version it can be set also to 2 - this enable midpoint grips on polyline segments. Regarding your issue, please ensure that GRIPSIZE system variable is not set to a very small value. Also, a restart of the editor, or even workstation, may help. Quote
ittayd Posted November 7, 2012 Author Posted November 7, 2012 About gripsize: I can see a grip, but just at one end of the line and just for moving (not stretching). Restart doesn't help. Other drawings behave normally. Quote
edwinprakoso Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Check your selection tab in option dialog. Is there anything different with my default setting? Color perhaps? Quote
ittayd Posted November 7, 2012 Author Posted November 7, 2012 It is the same. I also selected the first option, made no change. I do have grip points, but just for moving, not for stretching and only a single one for a line. Quote
eldon Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 If you List the line or look at its Properties, is it a Line or something else? Quote
Tiger Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Do you have your UCS set to World (or what ever UCS you should be in) ? Do you have PLAN set to Current? Quote
ittayd Posted November 7, 2012 Author Posted November 7, 2012 I found the reason: Some lines had a very high 'Start Z' value. This probably caused autocad to refuse to stretch them or something like that Quote
ittayd Posted November 7, 2012 Author Posted November 7, 2012 I found the reason. It seems some lines were way up (Z=1e99). this probably made autocad refuse to stretch them via grip points (although i could do it with the stretch command). making sure all were flat fixed the issue. Btw, what is the best way to make sure all entities are flat? (In my case I selected all lines and set start Z and end Z to 0, but other objects don't have these properties). I tried the trick of displacing everything by 1e99 and then -1e99, but it didn't work. Quote
JD Mather Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Save As new name. Delete everything but one line. Attach file here. Problem will be solved in next response. Never mind, I see you figured it out. Is this all your work or are you getting work from someone else? Quote
