I just started work for a company that uses Sheet Set Manager to plot and they are having issues getting ONLY the PDF's to print correctly. The other tabs using 11x17 or ArchD work fine for all users on all computers. However, when I try to open a drawing he has been working on I can't simply click for a Plot Preview on the PDF tab. I have to open up the Page Setup Manager and mock print using the CutePDF writer, then it will allow me to print that tab whenever I open the drawing. Unfortunately, it then blocks him from being able to print the PDF tab immediately. It either does the same thing by not pulling up a plot preview, or the plot preview works but prints on an odd size of paper (like 24" x 72", or something close to that).

Since I am new with Sheet Set Manager I am unsure to go about solving this. For PDF plotting through Sheet Set Manager it is programmed to use the plotter itself instead of a .pc3 file. Even so, if I switch the plot within the drawing to the .pc3 it does the same exact thing.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

*Edit: I should mention that when we switch to the AutoCAD PDF utility (DWG to PDF.pc3) it works fine for all users. The only problem is the file sizes are up to 8x's as large, and when we're shipping 20+ pages it makes emailing impossible. Unless there is a way to dramatically reduce the file sizes, which I haven't found yet, this won't be an option.

Try using DWG TrueView to plot to PDF.

Sorry if this spams replies... Quick Reply wasn't working for some reason.

The supervisor would like to keep CutePDF as the plotter and only switch as a last resort.

Do DWG to PDF.pc3 printing on one page.

I agree with Maratovich. Do yourself a favor and uninstall CutePDF - you don't need it. AutoCAD comes with PDF print driver capabilities right out of the box and is integrated into such tools as the Sheet Set Manager already.

I actually agree, but the supervisor is harder to convince.

However, we are faced with a new problem now no matter the PDF writer we use. I have been reading tutorials and forums all day trying to resolve this problem but cannot, and please keep in mind I am new to SSM.

Now, whenever he creates a sheet set I can access everything perfectly. When I go to plot, though, I cannot use ANY overrides or create a table. Additionally, when I try to go to "Manage Page Setups..." within SSM it gives me an error and states:

Sheet Set Manager Error

Unable to save settings to . Please check your access to this file and to its directory or network location and try again.

Obviously, I removed the actual filepath to reduce text. AutoCAD and my profile all have acces to the file in the current path it references. Here's the rub, if I right click the Sheet Set Name, open up Properties and redirect the "Page setup and overrides file" manually I can then access overrides and produce tables. The interesting thing about this is the filepath I redirect it to manually is the SAME EXACT filepath it already references innately for every Sheet Set. I literally just click the ellipsis and then the file it references and hit Open->Okay and it suddenly works.

The other drafters have never had the Sheet Set Manager work for them since the supervisor set it up and all experienced the same issues I have now. I am beginning to think that the best course of action would be to restart entirely with new templates and the works. I don't have a whole lot of pull being a fresh employee of 5 days, though, so if I approach it that way I need a working model.

Thank you so much for your help and time.

The Sheetset Manager seems influenced by the installed printers. I've had to uninstall printers, then re-install them, to fix seemingly unrelated Sheetset Manager problems.

Try un-installing CutePDF, then re-installing it.

If that doesn't work, try uninstalling, then re-installing ALL printers (it sounds ridiculous, but I've had to do this, just to identify which printer driver was precipitating the problem).
