byk3bep Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 Using acad2011 I would like to place a border (rectangle) in paper space so it measures 2cm form all sides of the paper when i print it. I have no idea how to do this. Not used to paper space and would like some help Thx for your time Quote
ReMark Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 I don't see why it could not be done although you might have to waste a couple of sheets of paper (test prints) just to get it spot on. This is because each plotter/printer driver has its own quirks. What sheet size will you be using? Quote
byk3bep Posted November 16, 2012 Author Posted November 16, 2012 I will be using ISO A3, the thing I want is to be able to place the border precise in relation to the edges of paper space, it does not have to be exactly xxcm from the edge of the paper when it is printed. I just want to figure how to place it where I want to, in paper space. The osnaps do not snap to the edge of the paper, so i was wondering how can this be done... Not sure this was clear Quote
ReMark Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 You were relatively clear. I get the idea. Hold on a moment. I'll be back. An example for you to view. I'm sure you'll have a question or two. TestBorder_A3.dwg Quote
byk3bep Posted November 16, 2012 Author Posted November 16, 2012 Yes, that's about it. Questions: I notice that it is the same offset distance from the printable area. Is it drawn freehand? What was the process you used that produced this? How did u center it? THX Quote
ReMark Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 I used the Rectangle command and drew it over the top of the dashed line. You are aware that this line represents the limits of the printable area right? Anything on or over the line does not get printed. Anything inside the line does. When I drew the rectangle I zoomed in on the two corners required to make my picks. I then offset that line and used the Pedit command to give it a little bit of width. But that part is entirely up to you. This was just an example. You do not have to do it the same way. The choice is all yours. Feel free to experiment. Quote
