lyntek18 Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 I have a 3D model where several pipes are open end to terminating on top of open top tanks. Can someone please tell me how the Isometrics when generated would tag the end of this line to read "OPEN END TO TANK ....." Thanks Quote
nod684 Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 (edited) I have a 3D model where several pipes are open end to terminating on top of open top tanks. Can someone please tell me how the Isometrics when generated would tag the end of this line to read "OPEN END TO TANK ....."Thanks Welcome to CADTutor! do you mean you want to write the line "OPEN END TO TANK..." in isometric 3D? if it is, then you can just explode your text (use bold text like Arial) then give that text a thickness or better yet extrude it... or maybe i misunderstood you... lyntek18 Posted November 19, 2012 Author Posted November 19, 2012 I think I need to be more specific in my question. When I generate ISOs in Plant 3D, I need it to automatically annotate the end of open ended pipe to read, say, "OPEN PIPE TO TANK.....". For this to happen, I am guessing that the pipe needs to be associated with the Tank in some way or the other. If this could be done, my assumption is, ISO will generate an auto anotation to read as above. In P&ID a line could be connected this way to an open top tank even though the line is not connected to a nozzle, per say, in the tank. Can the same be done in Plant 3D? OR, is there another way to do it instead of an ISO message inserted in every open end of pipe in the 3D model? Inserting ISO messages for every open ended pipe is extra work. Thank you. Quote
ReMark Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 If there is no automatic option could it be covered by a note that reads "Pipes terminating at or above the top of a tank, where no nozzles are shown, are considered to be open at the end"? Quote
lyntek18 Posted November 19, 2012 Author Posted November 19, 2012 Thank you for the feedback. I am seeking the automatic option. If this is not possible, the best option would be to insert ISO messages, as you say, in the 3D model maually. I have asked autodesk to check the automatic option for me. If I get positive feedback, I will certainly let you and the others know about it. Thank you Quote
