separating/unlinking an arrayed object

hey there, i am having some trouble in AutoCAD 2013... basically, i am making geometric shapes with polar arrayed circles and want to trim certain parts that cross. but because the array is treated as one object, it won't seem to let me trim anything on it. is there a way to separate or unlink the circles so they become separate objects? any help with this would be greatly appreciated :)

If that does not work, then you should consider posting a drawing with only the troublesome array in it.

When you create the array you are given the option to create it as associative or not.

Since you don't wan't it associative - untick associative.

thanks guys! exploding it works. i can't seem to figure out how to create a non-associative array.. though it would be a nice trick to know.
