line weights are jagged when plotting a 3d view...HELP!

After designing a simple 3d model, I can only get it to print right with 2d wireframe. Unfortunately, I don't want all the lines showing up, just the ones on top. I tried all the views, but only 2d wireframe works. Need lines, not concept or realistic shades.

Thanks

I've tried everything and a 3d model looks fine in paper space and model space, but will only plot without jagged lines if it's in "2D wireframe" I need it to print right without jagged lines and not show all the lines underneath for "3D view". Why does it look fine until i do a print preview and/or plot???

Select the viewport, right click, go to "Shade Plot," use "Hidden." Don't use 3D Hidden. Try that and see if it works.

No, still doesn't work... I just discovered that the lines aren't jagged when i plot them though, just in preview. When I plot them they are very faint and hardly even visbile. WTH???

Try this. Firstly set your model in 2d wireframe and then set your ploter to what I have shown in the 'plot' image, then right click your view port and select what I have shown in the 'plot 2' image. Make sure you select hidden on the top part of the fly-out and not the one lower down. Let us know if this works.

Thanks TonyJ! That works great! :) That was really starting to annoy me. Resullin, did you mean post image of file...can you post dwg files here, just see image and links.

You can post drawing files.

At lower right of reply box select "Go Advanced", then scroll down to "Manage Attachments".

Another question regarding plotting 3d model. Let's say that I want to plot this simple model and show all of the lines that are hidden as dashed. Is there a simple way to do this with ACA 2013.

Thanks!

Easy enough but that is a lot of hidden lines. Modify the Visual Style Hidden to show Occluded Edges.

Got it! Thanks rkent. You are right, many lines. I tried it on my own and got it to work too. Perhaps there is a way to select which lines you want to show as hidden?

That PDF explains something else that I was having a problem with. Do you see the horizontal lines on the left and how they are showing as hidden? I don't know if that has to do with my geometry. I guess I wouldn't have had so many issues if I wouldn't have imported this from sketchup. Maybe I should have drawn this within ACA 2013 and used object based walls instead...

I do see those and I don't know the cause, AutoCAD just doesn't handle 3D very well is mostly the problem. I was going to look at it some more when AutoCAD crashed, again. It is getting very unstable, must be time to repair or reinstall.

I know what you mean. ACA was crashing my computer almost every hour until an IT guy told me to turn off some of the features under 3dconfig->Degradation Order...I finally asked him if it would be ok if I unchecked "adaptive degradation" all together and he said "sure"...Fortunately, we don't do much 3d at our firm...Sorry for the crash and thanks for all of your help! I guess I need to focus on REVIT and limit my use of ACA with 3d.
