parsonsparsons Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 I just upgraded to a new laptop and had to install autocad 2007 LT and slingshot on it, however the font in my drawings are a different size and are not spaced correctly like they are on my old laptop. I copied my ENU file from my old laptop to this new one and most of the drawings look the same except for the font spacing or style, not sure. Am I just missing a front from the old laptop in this new one? Or a config file? Any help would be appreciated. Quote
pendean Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Your fonts, on the older pc, did not transfer: go get them. Are you using TTF or SHX fonts? List your needed fonts if you don't know. Quote
ReMark Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 What font are you using that doesn't look right? Is it one of the Arial fonts by any chance? Quote
parsonsparsons Posted December 17, 2012 Author Posted December 17, 2012 It's actually my aunt's set up and her old laptop shows the font as arial narrow bold, and arial narrow bold is also selected on the new laptop, yet the fonts on the new laptop are not situated correctly. I personally don't really know much about autocad, however I'm pretty sure they weren't SHX fonts, she wasn't using standard I don't believe. Quote
ReMark Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Arial fonts are TrueType fonts that ship with the Windows OS. From what I recall there was a change in the font style between what one would see using Vista, for example, compared to what shipped with Windows 7. Quote
parsonsparsons Posted December 17, 2012 Author Posted December 17, 2012 Both machines are using xp, the old laptop uses XP and the new windows 8 laptop uses XP in parallels. Quote
ReMark Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 The fonts being used are the ones that shipped with Win8 otherwise you would see no difference. Quote
parsonsparsons Posted December 17, 2012 Author Posted December 17, 2012 The fonts being used are the ones that shipped with Win8 otherwise you would see no difference. Yes but I'm not running autocad in windows 8 I'm running it in xp on a virtual machine. Quote
ReMark Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 How else do you explain the difference in the Arial font then? Nevermind. Use the font AutoCAD is bringing into the drawing and move on. It isn't worth the time or the effort to fix. In the future you might consider using SHX fonts instead. At least they are consistent. Quote
parsonsparsons Posted December 17, 2012 Author Posted December 17, 2012 They look like the same font, it's just spaced differently. As I said I don't know that much about autocad, lets assume that for whatever reason the fonts on the old windows xp laptop are different SOMEHOW from the fonts on the new virtual machine XP laptop. How would I fix that? Overwrite the ttf files with the ones from the old laptop? Quote
